I might not be posting anything these days, but I've never really left DA. It's a lovely gallery to go through and find creative speculative biological ideas, funny comics, marvelous macro-photos, and biological illustrations. Affex is not dead, just shrunk waaaay down into the rest of it's universe (I've been focusing my energies on story construction and not on ecosystem constructions anymore, sadly. I figure wildlife can wait until after a story has been written that can give the universe a contextual foundation to validate the energy I put into such artwork). But I'm not here to wallow in regret and self-dissatisfaction, but rather quite the opposite!
I've been accepted into the graduate school at the University of Maine to pursue a master's in entomology! My program should start June 1st where I'll be working on studying pests of potato crops (just think of it as exploring the ecological interactions that take place within a specific kind of anthropogenic habitat). This will be a critical stepping stone to greater academic opportunities, and the road will be paves in sickly, rotten spuds.
That doesn't sounds very appealing when I put it that way, but trust me: it'll be a lot of fun!
